How did we get to this point where autism is increasing at such a significant rate?
Autism has been increasing at an alarming rate. But how severe is it? Should we as a society be concerned? In the past 10 years, the number of estimates have risen to 100 in 10000 from 62 in 10000. That's a 60% increase. According to the article " Global prevalence of Autism : A systematic review update ", Males are 4 times more likely to develop autism when compared to females and the median percentage of autism cases with co-ocurring intellectual disability was 33%. According to an article from autism speaks titled " New study shows increase in global prevalence of autism ", “The increase in autism prevalence around the world reflects in part the impact of public health efforts to raise global awareness of autism spectrum disorder.
